Heart attack anyone?

9pm last night (Sunday August 28th) I put my baby in his sleeper to get ready for bed. He was perfectly fine.

9am this morning he wakes up- looking like a complete mess!

This was on his belly, back, and thighs at that time. I was FREAKING OUT! What was this craziness? Who injected my baby with "swelly bumpy cream"??? Who was about to get the momma claws sank into their neck?

I called the dr IMMEDIATELY! Got him in for just an hour and a half later. (10:30). I was not happy when I got there and realized that it was spreading!

I was freaking out! As you can tell in that first pic, there wasn't any bumps on his face this morning, but by the time we reached the dr there sure was and on his neck too! (Also in his hair and around his arms, he wouldn't let me get pics of that though!)

Dr comes in, starts examining this awfulness...

The Right Leg

The Left Leg

His Back (which was getting worse by the minute- literally!)

His Belly (that as even you can see- got worse in a matter of just 1 1/2 hours!)

She starts asking a million questions.
What's he eaten in the past 24 to 48 hours?
Formula and vegetables he's had a thousand times before- clearly he eats well, nothing is really out of his league right now.
What's he been in contact with?
Nothing really unusual, he was around a few dogs yesterday but no direct contact.
Anything out of the ordinary?
Not that I can think of at the moment no.
Any new lotions or soaps?
Nope, same thing since he was born.
Any new perfumes or laundry soaps?
Not for anyone in the house.
What medications is he on and are any of them new?
Zyrtec every night and he was recently prescribed Amoxicillin by another dr at the practice.

DING DING DING- THERE YOU HAVE IT! WE GOT AN ANSWER!

My entire family (almost) is allergic to Penacillin- a direct additive to Amoxicillin. Something he's been on a million times before for infections. But also something they have just upped his dose of- literally doubled it with this last prescription.

My baby was diagnosed with hives due to an allergic reaction to his antibiotic. They have him on an allergy medicine and a steroid in order to combat the side effects he's suffering right now. He's acting ok, just doesn't look ok. We were told to keep an eye on his breathing to make sure that the skin reaction doesn't become anything more- apparently babies his age can go into annicaleptic shock (wow i know i spelled that wrong!) if they're condition goes untreated for too long- I caught his early though and we have it taken care of now.

I feel bad for the little guy, God love him, he needs some special loves and extra hugs for the next two days.

State Fair

On the 23rd, we took the kids to the Kentucky State Fair. This was my first time having ever gone, and therefore it was also the kids first time going. It was worth the 1 1/2 hour drive to Louisville, KY for a day of family fun.

Let me start by saying we had a late start because of the Princess's allergy shots, but after that we had breakfast and we were on the road, we got there around 11am. (YES YES YES I KNOW- "wasn't yesterday a school day?" Well to put that rumor at ease now- yes, yes it was- and yes, yes i did let my daughter skip school THIS ONCE, normally I make her go until the nurse calls me and tells me to come get her, so keep the "horrible parent" comments to yourself please.) She learned something! This picture was taken at one of the "county" booths talking about the history of Kentucky.

The kids had a blast looking at all kinds of cool stuff, it was much bigger and more spread out then I had thought it would be, walking wasn't an issue though, we had a stroller and the Princess has done DisneyWorld before so walking isn't an issue. That being said, she took straight to the characters too lol

There was a booth set up teaching kids about police work, and safety. God love her, Princess wanted to have her pics taken with the card board cutouts that lets your face be the face of the object pictured, oh heck- just look LOL

bahahahahahaha!!!! This is my FBI & Army daughter!! She's so goofy sometimes, but she earned it rightfully, heaven knows I'm not all there sometimes!

She also found a new friend in a balloon Tucan Bird... no joke!

Then there's my boys, they were so good yesterday (for the most part) it was hot and they didn't get to ride any fair rides but they sure had a blast.

Both of my babies laughing, it was great! I hadn't seen my kids laugh and enjoy themselves this much in so long, I needed it, it showed me how happy they really are.

The Princess did get to ride some fair rides though, haha, she REALLY loved that!

She screamed and laughed the entire time she was on this!

LMAO THIS PIC CRACKS ME UP!!! She's laughing I swear, she's not crying!

Princess managed to get us on the carousel, not that it took much convincing honestly, I'm a big kid, sometimes those are the best parents right? Anyways, along with me, she got her Aunt Britty who IS a big kid at heart, she rode a freaking horse!

She's goofy too!!

On to some random information about me, it's relevant I promise. My fave color- pink. My dream car- mustang. A cause I will always support- Breast Cancer Awareness. So will you put yourself in my shoes when I saw this when I turned the corner?

HECK YES! I was excited! This car had it all, it was pink, it was a stang, and it supported my cause. I had to have my picture with it.

Some seriousness though, I had the holy crap scared out of me at one point though, I didn't realize just how close we were to the Louisville Airport, yeah, so picture my surprise and shock when this flew over my head REALLY low to the ground...

Instant panic anyone? I mean really? This close to 9/11 and I was flipping out, bless their hearts, Britty & Porkchop were like "um you do know the airport is right over there?" haha I felt stupid!

Random, but I believed that whole "you can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl" thing, I think that's a lie now. I was born in the country and was baiting worms on my own when I was 3 with my dad- I moved to the city and thought a bit of that was still in me up until yesterday. We walked into see the animals and it was AWFUL the things that we seen, heard, and omg smelled.

HUGE pigs that were about to be auctioned off, sheep, random farm animals. It was crazy looking at them all and thinking "why in the world do they have all these animals here?" Then I was informed that it was going to be a livestock auction. Uummm... why are you doing that at a state fair with kids from all walks of life there? My children did not in the slightest understand that and how awful to do that there? Can't they have a private place to hold that? On our way to try to get out of this particular area I overhead a conversation between a lady and this guy talking about a pig.

man: "he's worth it, but don't eat him- breed him"
lady: "oh, he won't taste good, but he'll breed well?"
man: "yup, breed him."

WOW! I could have gone the rest of my life without hearing that! I mean I know that's what we eat and stuff but WHY do that sort of thing in a massively populated area in front of kids??? Just my opinion but there are phones and private offices for those types of conversations. That's almost as disturbing as the sign that hung next to the baby chicks coup. It read "Sponsored by Tyson Chicken" HOW AWFUL IS THAT!?

Anyways, enough of my ranting about people in their livestock issues. I hope you enjoyed =)
haha

Big Day

Well, it was a big day for my kids anyway!

On Friday morning the Princess busts into my room to tell me that her FIRST TOOTH has come out! (It's about time, it's only been loose for a couple of months now lol). It was SO EXCITING, she felt like such a big girl when that happened! I was extremely happy for her...

Then...

Nicholas woke up finally, after hours and hours of sleeping, and he had a COMPLETELY dry diaper from the night before and he went STRAIGHT to the potty and HE USED THE BIG BOY POTTY! This was VERY exciting to both him AND me! Diapers are old news to this mommy, we're ready for big boy underwear now!

It was a very exciting Friday in our house!

***UPDATE! The day that I posted this blog, Princess came home with ANOTHER tooth out, the one right next to the first one that came out! lol! She's rocking the toothless look!***

Was Walt Disney Psychic??

HAHAHAHA!!! When Disney made this movie was he looking into the future to see our modern fairy tale?

I found this picture and just HAD to share!!

I Will Never Forget

As much as we all hate to think of the devastation that was caused on September 11, 2001 I would like to think of the overwhelming patriotic outburst that happened afterwards.

 <3 Never Forget <3

I was only 15 at the time and was sitting in Biology class my sophomore year when the news was delivered to us. Though we weren't allowed to know what had happened yet. At that time only one plane had hit and they weren't sure if it was an attack or if it was a accident with an airplane. But when the 2nd plane hit my teacher was handed a note from an office aide and class abruptly stopped. She sat rather still at her desk in complete silence. It was very unwelcoming the feeling of not knowing what had happened. A class of about 30 of us sat in dead silence waiting for anything to mutter out of her mouth.

"There's been an attack on America. New York, Trade Center..." her voice sort of drifted into whispers and a look of just utter shock on her face. This was very unlike her, she's more of the loud, out going, you're going to hear my opinion whether you want it or not type of people. This was uncharacteristic of her. About that time cell phones were ringing and people were crying. I was the first to come out and say what had happened. My mother had called (knowing I was in class since she actually worked at the school, but also knowing I wouldn't get in trouble this time for my phone), I recall a shaken voice when I said out loud

"The twin towers in New York were hit by airplanes. One each, there's going to be a lot of dead people. They think it's a terrorist attack."

I was going to insert a picture here, but I don't think any of us need a memory of what that day looked like honestly.

Words I never in my life thought I'd have to say. We sat there without a word said, a sob here and there until the bell rang to release us to our next class. That's where things got interesting for me, this teacher was also a science teacher (long story as to why I had 2 science classes that semester). Before I walked in the door I could see a pitch black room with just the glare from the TV in the corner of the room. We watched Good Morning America all class. Which was actually educational to me. I had no clue that in 1993 there was a previous attack on the same place that was also a terrorist. Why hadn't we discussed this in history class? That was one of my favorite subjects, I think I would have remembered that.

This is from the 1993 bombing.

Then the news of the hijacked plane that was suppose to be on it's way to the pentagon- how awful. I remember thinking that they were slowly taking out our government one big thing at a time and next would be the white house... sure enough the news of the plane landing in a field in Pennsylvania that was believed to be heading to the white house when it crashed surfaced. I have never felt so much shock and hurt feelings for something that I had no personal connection to. It was weird for me, but that in turn allowed the new found respect for my country. I had never been so patriotic as I had become those next few days.

It wasn't just one of those patriotic things that lasted a few weeks and then I was done, lol, nope still pretty patriotic, I don't have any recent pics showing that but this was a pic from July of 2007 at the 4th of July parade held here in Lexington.

haha great right?!

Anyway, I visited New York City in 2004 with my senior class, it was our big senior trip before graduation and I LOVED it! I fell in love with the place and honestly if I had the money to do so, I'd move there now. I can't see how anyone can hate such a great beautiful place. That's actually one of the reasons I named my daughter what I did. (Brace yourself, I won't call my kids by their names often online because of creepy stalker people that might see them out lol paranoid I know but it's for their safety) Brooklyn was named partly after Brooklyn, New York. I loved it and the people there, the shopping, the food, it was just all around wonderful and I wanted to have a part of that with me always, but that's a different story for a different day. When I left New York that spring I was even more in awe of this place that was put under such a horrible spotlight just 2 1/2 years earlier.

I have also since 9/11 had to let some good friends go serve overseas to help fight in our war against terrorism. I was thankful the first time they came home safe, blessed the second time, and currently we're over seeing our third. Even though I'm not as close with these friends as I once was, I'll be very happy when they come home this time as well. I wish them all the very best of luck and hope they are staying as safe as they can over there.

This is Don, we get on each others nerves, it's how we work.

Now that nearly 10 years has passed, the memorial where the towers stood is almost done. I cannot begin to tell you how thrilled I am to see such a beautiful thing go up where such a horrendous thing happened. On the 10th anniversary of this day the names of those lost will be unveiled to the families effected by these events. What I find to be even more touching is that this memorial does not hold just the names of those lost in 2001 at the towers themselves, but it does include the names of those lost at the pentagon, the field in Pennsylvania, and those lost in the attack in 1993 as well. I think that is very touching. On September 11, 2012 the remainder of the memorial will be opened to the public, it will be a museum of artifacts surrounding this event, as well as some pictures of those lost in these events.

This is the aerial view of the memorial pools.

I found a video this morning on Yahoo! that caused me to write this blog and I would love to share that link with you here. If you get a few moments check out the video Behind-The-Scenes Look at the 9/11 Memorial

Thank you for reliving the past with me for a few moments & if you or your family was personally effected by this tragedy may God bless you all.

This cross was salvaged from the parking garage when searching for survivors.

Princess is turning 6!

In about 26 days (not that I'm counting) my Princess will be turning 6 years old! It's a mess how I feel about this right now, I'm sure over time it will get easier but right now my baby girl is growing up. Moving on... this is my baby girl on her first day of 1st grade...

She's so beautiful!
Anyway... she's hooked on Tangled right now (the Disney version of Rapunzel). This was what she picked as her birthday theme, and as most little girls, she's going to get her way. She's spoiled and I'm not too ashamed to admit that to anyone. I have lots of birthday ideas and I'd like to share them with everyone, I'm open to input and suggestions if you have any feel free to leave it in a comment and I will take all things into consideration.

This is something I want to do...
This is yarn that has been braided together and strung around the door to look like Rapunzel's hair. I love this idea! I think Princess would love this as well. I only have one adjustment I want to make to it, I think at the end of the hair I will have it going "inside" of a tower window that will be hung up near the birthday cake itself. In that tower window I hope to have a picture of Rapunzel overlooking the cake area. (Clearly since it's still in my head I don't have a picture of it)

Her cake is being made by a friend of mine named Amber- THANKS A TON GIRL! The cake will resemble this...
The doll will be real though and the cake will have my daughter's name on it. It's not going to be this exact cake. I also plan on having a dozen or so cupcakes around it in case there isn't enough cake.

For food we usually do pizza. but this time I think we will do a small "spread" and have variations instead. I think I like the idea of having a fruit tray and a veggie tray (or a couple of each), with some homemade bread and honey butter, crackers and cheese ball would be good too. Again of course this is all in my head so I don't have a picture of it to share just yet.

I also like the idea of having paper lanterns hung up around the party area to make it look like when the lanterns were released into the sky in the movie. I bought paper lanterns from a website for my wedding and they were great, loved them, so many options in the area of color. Here it is!

I also have little plastic margarita glasses that I'm going to take art pens and write the girls names on them and tie pretty ribbon around the handle of it and make them "Princess Glasses." My Princess is very excited for that, after the party I'm going to dry the glasses out and put their goodie bag stuff in them. The glasses look something like this right now...

I am also going to take a BIG piece of white paper and hang it on our fence in the back yard. I'm going to let the kids have smocks and paint brushes and have at it with some washable paints that they will get to take home with them and then take the picture and hang it up in my Princess's room as a reminder of her birthday party with maybe some pictures of her & the party guests painting it hung up around it.

I also might have a few coloring sheets on a table with some crayons in case it rains or in case some want to color instead of paint.

A few of my ideas came from Super Mom! Check her out Here!

I am hoping this goes off without a hitch- I really think she'll enjoy it!

Any suggestions??

Rest in Peace Furbie & Miley Goldfish

Well let's just state right now my mother and I will NOT be going into the fish tank cleaning business any time soon...

We killed the last goldfish!!!

Princess had originally 2 goldfish, 1 named Furbie (after a dog lol) that died shortly after she got him of "natural" causes (LMAO idk what goldfishes croak from but his was what we'll call natural!) and today I suppose Miley (also named after a dog which was named after a troubled pop star) lost her battle with a slight temperature change in water. HAHA, I know I shouldn't laugh but we went through all this trouble to clean a tank to help her stay ALIVE and I'll be damned we killed the thing! Needless to say...

Princess will be getting a new set of fishes soon!

HAHA!!

Just wanted to share... now I suppose we should have a moment to honor these poor fallen fishes...

Ah Back to School

It's that lovely time of year again! Princess went back to school yesterday- First Grade! Such a big girl, I'm so proud of her!

(plus I value my sanity & with her home all day long during summer- I think I lost it!)
Anyways, I got some things done yesterday and was feeling pretty accomplished. Running errands, grocery shopping, cleaning house (a good clean too), at one point I realized how quiet it was with just BB & Bubby at home.It was oddly comforting and I recall making the comment...

"Oh yes, this is what I've been waiting for, she's back at school and the world is back at peace again."

WRONG!!!

Last night I was making plans with Britty to sit with the boys today while I go to Brooklyn's school to get a few other things accomplished for the PTA fundraisers that are going to be going on this school year when it HIT ME like a TON of bricks... "oh shit! I'm not going to get any peace this school year!"

See Pork Chop and I joined the PTA (parent teacher association) last year to become more involved with Princess's school and education, at the end of the year I agreed to do be the fundraiser coordinator for this school year. (This is where someone reaches over and smacks me in the back of the head- anytime now would be great!) I have printouts to sort through, packs of papers to distribute, questions to answer, and listen to parents complain about the fundraisers ON TOP OF... volunteering in Princess's class, keeping an eye on my niece's until they adjust to a new school and all around new life, girl scouts, allergy shots, doctor appointments, and Princess wants to add cheerleading to that list now too.... ugh... what have I agreed to??

I don't foresee a lot of sleep in the school year that is laid out in front of me. I actually see a serious lack of sleep. But anywho- Brooklyn loved her first day back at school, seen some good old friends and said she recognized everyone in her class so she doesn't have to worry about being nervous or shy in front of new friends, she says her teacher is very nice and she thinks that First Grade is going to be "great."

I have to get this day going or I will never get through it!

Thanks for reading!

Marriage

Married life is great most of the time, I usually don't have any complaints, however...

This really isn't a complaint about him, but more a complaint about the way things work out at the end of the day. We spend most of our days apart, he works 8.5 hours and I deal with the kids, after he gets home we spend time together but with the kids, then we fight to make dinner and get everyone ready for bed. Once all the kids are in bed and actually staying in bed it's about 9 or so and we only have a rough 1.5 to 2 hours to spend together. Less than that if we need showers. We very rarely get to actually go out alone.

I know it's not good to complain but I just need to right now. If I kiss my husband "too much" in front of some friends they get all pissy about it, it's not like I'm making out with him in front of anyone.Usually random kisses is all the attention we can really give one another throughout the day, I'm sorry if that doesn't suit you and you're around when that attention is given. Don't be such a bitch about it. I'm sorry that makes you uncomfortable- don't look! If we are in our house we should be able to kiss when we want.

I wish we had the money to go to dinner alone one night, but we don't, so we try to make the best out of what we can, we make things work with what we have. That's a hell of a lot more than some people our age can say! Most of our friends have been divorced already and have "sworn" off getting married again, not all marriages are like that, some of them are actually meant to be- we love one another very much and we don't care who knows it!!!

We have our disagreements from time to time, but who doesn't? We work through them and come out stronger because of it. I love my husband with all my heart and the only thing I would change would be getting to spend more time together- is that a crime?

Lunch Time Feeding Frenzy

At my house my kids get 3 meals a day, 1 snack (sometimes 2), and desert if they finish all of their dinner & all of their lunch. So would someone like to tell me why Lunch Time at my house is like a herd of cattle that haven't eaten in days?

It starts with Princess and her constant "I'm hungry" followed shortly behind Bubby saying "fooood." On weekends that we have Wyatt you will hear this small voice from the back of the crowd saying "i want food too" which usually gets drowned out by BB squalling for his mid day jar of food and bottle.
Keep in mind that Pork Chop is at work during the day and I'm at home alone!

So naturally my kids can't do anything simple, so, they all want something different to eat! I'm rushed to make hot dogs for this one, a sandwich for this one, and pizza rolls for this one... all while trying to mix a bottle and make the baby's food warm.

It all gets done and they're acting like they're starving to death, I pour drinks and set their plates and cups on the table. Aaahhhhh.... time to feed to baby and be done with lunch... ummm NOPE not in my house! I feed the baby a whole 15 minutes, he's done, he takes his bottle and goes down for a nap. I return to the kitchen just to see two bites out of a sandwich, one pizza roll consumed, and maybe half a hot dog gone... WHAT JUST HAPPENED HERE?!?!?!

They were starving to death just 15 minutes ago, why does it take so long to eat that little? What was the screaming for food all about? Really? I mean you could just say "hey mom I'm hungry, can we have lunch" and not act like you're dying.

They had breakfast around 9am, they ask for lunch and I gave it to them a few hours later at 12pm, they will have a handful of Cheez-Nips or a few Vanilla Wafers at around 3pm, and won't eat again until almost 6:30pm, why don't they just throw fits over dinner? There's a bigger break there, you would think they would be more hungry then- apparently not though, my kids are odd.

Well I have rather enjoyed ranting about their lunch habits, now I must clean up from lunch!
