Pined It- Tried It...

On Pinterest I found a post about DIY Monogrammed Plates.

I am not going to lie, Y'all this sounded crazy to me, I thought these people were nuts. And like most things on Pinterest- I find the person hasn't ever tried it before.

For this particular thing I HAD to know if it would work.

Can you imagine the money saved on paying to have it monogrammed? On Graduation gifts? Birthday? Christmas? Just Because Gifts? Wedding Gifts?
That's exactly what we were going to use it for! Wedding!

See... My husband has a friend that was getting married- he use to be quite the party-er and was pretty much right up until he met his fiance. Now I believe in "the one" but in my head "the one" won't change who you are with just one date. So I was skeptical at first of this said "wedding." But alas, I liked the Bride to be (and groom too don't get me wrong!) but I didn't want to spend an arm and leg on a wedding gift in fear of it getting returned, or ditched at a goodwill or yard sale. Ya see where I'm coming from?

Anyway... here's what I was told to start with:
*Glass Plate(s)
*Sharpie
*Oven

I saw this going horribly wrong in my head.
The directions were:
1- Use oven safe glass plates and write with the Sharpie whatever you want the plate to say or whatever design you wish to have on it.
2- Preheat oven to 350*
3- Bake plate face up for 30 minutes
4- Cool completely before wrapping up or using
**With the promise that this would be 100% safe and permanent after baking and cooling**

Well I'm fairly clumsy... So here's how I tweeked it to fit my needs.
NEED:
*Glass Plate(s)
*Marks-A-Lot Permanent Marker
*1piece Printer Paper
*Tape
*Oven
*Scissors

Clearly my oven is not pictured.

DIRECTIONS:
1- Preheat oven to 350*
2- Print the letter or design you wish to have on the plate onto the paper.
3- Cut around the letter or design on the paper
4- Tape the paper to the plate
5- Take your marker and darkly go over the letter or design on the paper. The Marks-A-Lot markers and sharpies will bleed onto the plate through the paper.
6- Slowly remove the tape and paper from the plate.
7- "doctor" the image on the plate with the marker you have chosen. Make it look more clear and even without having to freehand the image or lettering.
**Please note that while you are drawing the image IF you mess up you can use a q-tip with a slight bit of alcohol on it to remove any smudges or redo a specific area.**
8-Once you are satisfied with the image or letter place the plate in the oven ON the rack
9- Bake for 30 minutes
10- Allow to cool

This was after they cooled! I tested the promise they would be permanent and washed them, they were fine! I was thrilled!

Due to my last phrase ^^^^ I will totally stand behind this DIY project! It is permanent and the plates did not smell of marker. They looked store bought!

The total of this project? $2!! I already had a marker at home as well as tape. So I really just had to purchase 2 plates. I would have done a full set if I had thought ahead of time how great they would turn out. But the 2 worked for now, we put together a picnic basket for two. Personalized plates included.

This project was super easy!! I am very thrilled with how it came out & look forward to seeing what YOU do with it!! Feel free to try it yourself and post pictures on our facebook page letting us know how yours turned out!!

Once Upon A Time

Unless you've been living under a rock you KNOW what "Once Upon A Time" is, or you've at least heard about it. Right?

I want to give you the brief run down without giving away too much information- just in case you haven't seen it yet but perhaps have it on DVr or TiVO to watch at a later date.

In a nut shell, these are your 4 main characters:
*The Evil Queen (Regina) played by Lana Parilla
*Emma Swan (Snow White's Daughter) played by Jennifer Morrison
*Snow White (Mary Margaret) played by Ginnifer Goodwin
*Prince Charming (David) played by Josh Dallas

There are other important characters but these are your biggest 4. A tale as old as time (ha I know that's from Beauty & the Beast but it works for me right now!) as our Fairy Tales would tell us as children, Prince Charming saves Snow White from a deep sleep that is placed upon her by the Evil Queen and a rotten apple. Once she awakes they take the land back over as their own and the Evil Queen no longer rules the land. Then they live happily ever after.

WELL that's what our parents told us anyway. The creators and writers for this show are GENIUSES! I have read the traditional Fairy Tales to my sweet Princess over and over again. Multiple times. So when Once Upon A Time came on late nights I was a bit confused as to why a child's show would air at 9pm. Most kids are in bed because it falls on a school night. A friend begged me to watch it- said "You'll LOVE it! It's what we grew up knowing with a nice twist to it. Trust me- it's worth an hour of your time!"

Ok, I caved! What could it hurt? Well it hurt an hour of my life that I devote to this show at least once a week, sometimes I will re-watch episodes that I have on my DVr.

It's heavily addicting!

See where I would typically get bored ends with the happy ever after- let's be real- nobody has it that easy!
That holds true for Snow White and her Prince.
The Evil Queen continues to plague them with troubles even after they are wed and show the kingdom what a horrible person she truly is. AND you get ot see why the Evil Queen is so evil to begin with. You see what her true hatred for Snow White is and where it came from. It's quite tragic really.

With this you figure out where the daughter comes from. See in this world all of these Fairy Tales are connected in some way. Rumplestiltskin plays a huge role as well. HUGE! Snow White becomes pregnant and the Evil Queen is about to place a large curse and to prevent the baby princess named Emma from being a part of it they send her to OUR world. She is raised as an orphan and lives her life that way for 28 years none the wiser until a small child knocks at her door. This boy a child she had given up for adoption- Henry.

Henry is played by Jared Gilmore.

This being Emma's son, makes him also Snow White's grandson- but if you haven't seen the show yet- I recommend you stop right here and watch it! This next part is a doosey!

Henry is the only one who believes in the curse and believes that he can help break it. He hunts down his birth mother and informs her of the curse and who she truly is- she tells the kid he's crazy and takes him home. Where she too begins to find things just aren't right, something is amiss in Storybrooke, Maine. Yes, Storybrooke. No pun intended right?

I cannot go into too much more detail without completely unraveling the first two seasons all together.

I am more so thrilled to announce that Once Upon A Time HAS been renewed for it's THIRD season, scheduled to air on ABC in Fall of 2013. I assure you that I will be all eyes and ears awaiting any leaking information on my favorite show.

I will tell you though- many people who found Disney's Peter Pan to be a charming tale of a young man never wanting to grow up might just rethink that once they see the last 3 episodes of season 2. Be sure your windows are locked when you go to bed....

Kids Craft: Bottom of My Heart

Good Afternoon Loves!

I want to share this wonderful craft we did with my daughter's Girl Scout troop this past week. I had something else planned to post today but this was too stinkin cute NOT to post!

PLEASE FORGIVE MY DAUGHTER'S HANDWRITING!
She's extremely intelligent- just doesn't believe that others should have to read what she writes LOL!
"From the bottom of my heart...
To the tips of my toes...
I Love You!"

The she added her own little thing at the bottom telling me I am a great mom (well DUH!) and Love, Brooklyn. (that's rare for me to use her actual name on here but I needed to post the picture for an example.)

This was a Mother's Day gift for me and for the other girls moms as well.

Super simple to do.

*****************************************************************

Need:
*Thick Card Stock or Canvas
*Paint
*Pencil/Marker/Pen

Directions:

*Have the child write across the top: "From the bottom of my heart"

*Paint the child's hands for them. Just a little bit of paint is needed on one hand and they can gently rub their hands together to equally coat them in whatever paint color they chose.
*Turn the paper upside down (the words will be closer to their body upside down so they can't "read" it at this time.)
*Place one hand down on the paper firmly and lift straight up when you feel that hand has been imprinted on the paper evenly.
*Carefully place the opposite hand on the paper so that the fingers will overlap with the paint fingers already on the paper. Lift straight up when done pressing this hand as well.
((This should leave you with an upside down heart, twist the paper around so you can read the words and have the heart correct too.))
*WASH CHILD'S HANDS OR USE A WET WIPE TO REMOVE PAINT FROM HANDS*

*Under the heart have child write: "To the tips of my toes...."

*Help the child wipe the foot clean and dry thoroughly.
*Evenly coat with paint
*Help child press the foot evenly on to the paper, pressing firmly to get the entire foot on the paper.
*Lift straight up to remove the foot from the paper.
*WASH CHILD'S FOOT OR USE A WET WIPE TO REMOVE PAINT FROM FOOT*

*Next to the foot painted on the paper, have the child write: "I Love You!"

**ALLOW TO DRY THOROUGHLY BEFORE GIVING AS A GIFT**

***********************************************************************

This project took our Girl Scout troop less than 15 minutes to complete and roughly about 10 minutes to dry since we just used acrylic paint.

I received mine for Mother's Day, but this gift would be great for:
*Valentine's Day- February 14th
*Father's Day- June 16th
 *Grandparent's Day- September 8th
*Christmas- December 25th
*Caregiver's Birthdays
*Teacher Appreciation

**Please bare in mind that I am Baptist and do not know too many other religious Holidays that this could be given out at. Take it and make it your own though!!

Happy Crafting!

Lysol® Touch of Foam™ Antibacterial Hand Wash Review

I am the proud mother of a 3 year old…just one… however, throughout the day our home is graced with the presence of two 3 year olds, an 8 year old, a 10 year old, and multiple adults. Needless to say, we are well acquainted with germs and share viruses galore! Hand washing is the easiest way to keep germs at bay. Now that my daughter is old enough to understand, we wash our hands multiple times throughout the day. In fact, she thinks of it as a game and is constantly asking if she can wash her hands.

I am a BzzAgent and was selected to participate in the Lysol Touch of Foam campaign. Lysol is a trusted household name; however, when I think of Lysol I don’t automatically jump to hand wash. I tend to think of my everyday cleaning products used in the kitchen and bathroom. With that being said, I’ll try anything once…sometimes twice, and welcomed this new product into our lives.

Before I go any further I should probably share that I am a soap and lotion fanatic. I’m not talking about the lady that likes pretty smelling things. I’m the lady that you see at Bath & Body works when there is an annual sale, lugging around a bag filled with soaps and lotions that I can barely carry due to the weight. Yeah, I’m that lady. Our linen closet at home has two shelves strictly dedicated to soap and lotion. Hmmm… I really like candles too BUT we won’t get into that.

I keep antibacterial soap next to every sink as I am a true believer in the motto, “cleanliness is next to godliness.” When my Bzz campaign package arrived I hesitantly changed out my Bath & Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom soap, after thanking it for the memories, with the Lysol Touch of Foam Creamy Vanilla Orchid that I had received. I wondered if I would dig on the new scent and I was pleasantly surprised to find that I LOVE it. The scent is strong; however, I don’t mean that in a bad way. If I am using scented hand wash I WANT to smell it. With that being said, the scent is not overpowering. I pumped the hand wash twice and my hand filled up with thick, creamy foam that smelled good enough to eat. I think I fell in love! After my first wash with Touch of Foam I walked up to my husband and slid my hand in front of his nose, he liked it! Men are finicky so SCORE!

I could go on and on about how much I love this hand wash. No, I really could, as I mentioned before I am a FANATIC but I don’t want to bore you. Let’s talk about why YOU need to pick up Lysol Touch of Foam for your home.

 A few bragging rights:
  • Rich non-drip lather works on contact to kill 99.9% of germs
  • Offers 10x more germ protection than the leading national competitor
  • Moisturizer-enriched micro-bubbles leave your hands feeling soft and comfortable after every wash
  • Available in three great scents — Creamy Vanilla Orchid, Rose & Cherry in Bloom and Wild Berry Bliss
  • Antimicrobial properties are built in to protect the pump and resist odor-causing bacteria

This product delivers on every point as promised. It is thick, creamy, and smells divine. I can’t wait to try the Rose & Cherry in Bloom and Wild Berry Bliss!

Now to the knitty gritty, anyone that knows me KNOWS that I am a couponer. No, no, no, NO… I am an EXTREME couponer. I never, ever pay full price unless I absolutely have to and I am constantly looking out for the next steal (legally of course). Bath & Body Works sells their antibacterial soap for $5.50. Lysol Touch of Foam retails for around $3.99. Add in a coupon and you can easily pick up a bottle for just $2.99. That is a 25% SAVINGS!!!

Lysol Touch of Foam is a great product that I look forward to adding to my stockpile. I plan on saving money while fighting germs and soaking up a product that smells delectable.

For additional information about this product and other great Lysol products, please visit their website at: http://www.lysol.com/cleaning-products/hand-soap/touch-of-foam

Playtex Secrets Review

GREAT SUPPORT BUT SEXY? EHHHH... NOT SO MUCH

I am a BzzAgent and was recently given the opportunity to try the NEW Playtex Secrets bra for FREE?

I was a little skeptical when I first received my new Playtex bra and put it on. Don’t get me wrong… I’m a female with curves and love that this is bra supports me in all of the right places; however, the cut kind of reminds me of the type of bra my grandma used to wear when I was growing up… at least on me.

Overall, I love the straps because they actually STAY IN PLACE which is huge. I love that the bra fits in all of the right places and holds in parts of me that I find less desirable. Those two items actually make me look and feel great.

If I had one suggestion for Playtex it would be to change the cut of the bra, in the front and to add additional padding. I’m 32 and still like to wear a bra that will provide lift and maximum VA-VOOM! In addition to being 32 I also have a three year old so there is some sagging in my breasts. With that being said, I am a 38D, respectfully, and like to have LIFT. I’m not sure if padding is the right thing but I feel as though this bra actually holds me in and separates my breasts. Not my overall favorite style. If Playtex could make a push-up bra that has great straps and maximum support for plumping on the sides and back I would absolutely, positively fall in love.

I still give this bra a great rating because it makes me look more sleek on my sides and back. I just want a little more BANG when it comes to the appearance of my cleavage.

I still wear my new bra multiple times a week; however, when I am dressing to enhance my overall sex appeal...unfortunately... this bra has to stay home.

Please note that while I am a BzzAgent I am not required to provide a positive review. These opinions are mine and mine alone.
